Obituary for John Maarleveld

John Maarleveld, 78, of Lakewood, formerly a Rutherford resident for 48 years, passed away after a long illness on Sunday March 16th, 2014.
He was born in Jersey City to John and Frances (nee Costante) in 1935.
John proudly served in the US Army during the Korean conflict.
He was the owner of “Johnny Bacc's” in Rutherford for over 20 years and was also Director of Operations for Consolidated Supermarkets Inc. in Union, for 20 years.
He was an active volunteer for “Hope with Heart”, a coach for Rutherford Babe Ruth Little League, a fan of the Rangers and he had a passion for old cars and his loyal dog, “Luigi”. His family meant the most to him.

John will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Marianne (nee Spano), his son John David “JD” and his wife Ivy of Rutherford, his daughter June Griffin of Waldwick, his grandchildren, Jenna, Julie, Max, Rachel. John is predeceased by his son-in-law John Griffin (9/11/2001) and his grandson Jonathan Griffin (1989).

Family will receive friends and loved ones Tuesday 4:00 to 8:00pm with a 7:30pm Prayer Service in the Collins Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
