The Smallest Angel

My Dearest Adelyn Alfe,

Your mommy and daddy have told us that your favorite things are "tummy time" and stories.

So tell your great grannies to find the softest cloud and lay you ever so gently on your tummy and open up

those little ears because your Poppi and Mom Mom want to tell you one more story before we say "Good

Bye".

Once upon a time in heaven, God created the most beautiful little angel ever.

And every where that the little angel flew in heaven, she brought great joy and happiness to all.

The other angels, the saints and the departed wanted to be near the little angel.

Jesus so loved the little angel that he decided to share her with the world.

So he picked out a very special mommy and daddy who he knew would love and nurture her, and told the

little angel to fly to them.

Well the little angel got so excited that when she saw her new mommy and daddy that she flew too fast and

arrived way too early.

The doctors told the little angel that she could not go home with her new mommy and daddy because she

was too small.

So the little angel was very sad because she wanted to be with her new parents so much.

But the little angel was also very brave, so she tolerated all the sticking, the needles, the IV's, and anything

that her nurses did to help her grow strong.

And the little angel 's mommy and daddy were very dedicated to her. They came everyday and night.

At first, they could only touch their little angel thru a window, but they could feel the love that their daughter

was sending to them. So they stayed hours with the little angel and read many stories to her.

And soon the little angel began to grow.

The mommy and daddy could now feed her, hold her, and even change her little diaper. Oh Pooh!

And they were very happy.

The friends and relatives of the little angel said many prayers for the little angel and also sent their best

wishes to her.

Even complete strangers who never met her or her parents said prayers for her when they heard of her

arrival.

The friends and relatives held a big party for the little angel and even though she could not attend, they

brought her many presents and gifts that they hoped she could use when she went home.

And everyone was very happy.

But there was only sadness in heaven. For everyone missed their little angel terribly.

So Jesus decided that even though the little angel had only been on earth a short period of time, he needed

to call her home to heaven. So he beckoned his little angel to come back.

But the little angel did not want to leave her new mommy and daddy who she loved so much.

So she fought and she fought the terrible illness that was now inside her. She fought until all of her strength

had left her, and the illness was causing her life light to fade.

So her mommy told her that it was alright for her to return to Jesus. That her daddy and her loved the little

angel very much, but they could not stand to see her in such pain. She should now go back to heaven

where she would have no more pain.

So the little angel flew straight back to Our Lord and she hurt no more.

And everyone on earth was very sad.

But this is not the end of our story my little Adelyn Alfe. No, it is not!

So close your little eyes while your great grannies rock you to sleep.

And when you wake up, we will all be there with you.

And your mommy and daddy will hold you once again.

And they will never leave you ever.

And we will have our happy ending!

So sleep tight my little one.

And know that no little angel was ever loved more than you.
